Dripping Springs

Long distant vistas and rock bottom, spring feed creeks are revealed as one enters Dripping Springs, known “The Gateway to the Texas Hill Country”. Only 13 miles southwest of Austin, Dripping Springs offers a small town atmosphere, excellent schools, convenience to Austin and Lake Travis, and easy access to serene Hill Country getaways.

The community of Dripping Springs has a rich history dating back to 1854 when three families, including Dr. Joseph Pound and wife Sarah, settled the area. Dr. and Mrs. Pound’s restored home is part of the Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead located in Founders Park. Even in its early days, Dripping Springs was known as an excellent educational center with the current Masonic Lodge Building having served as a school used by early students.

Dripping Springs has maintained its small town atmosphere, making families feel right at home, where they can enjoy excellent schools and an active community. The Dripping Springs Youth Sports Association provides extracurricular activities for area youth while the local YMCA offers sporting activities for the whole family. A strong sense of community inspires Dripping Springs’ residents to stay involved with organizations such as the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, Helping Hands and The Burke Home, a residential facility for youths. Dripping Springs also has a strong religious presence, with a variety of congregations that actively assist with needs in the community.

The Dripping Springs area is growing as more people realize the amenities it has to offer. The last census reported 1,500 residents inside the City limits; however, the School District, which covers 200 square miles, has over 4,000 students enrolled. Many residents find Dripping Springs the ideal place to raise their families while commuting into Austin to work. As the City continues to grow, businesses in Dripping Springs are increasing in number, offering more job opportunities locally.
