Wimberley

Located southwest of Austin and nestled in lovely, majestic hills is the charming valley town of Wimberley, established in 1848.  The Blanco River and Cypress Creek run through the city limits and beautiful Hill Country scenery abounds.  With its many cultural and sporting activities and its excellent school district, this quaint city is appealing to young families, artists, authors and retirees alike.  The beauty of the area and its famous shopping attractions bring an abundance of visitors for weekends or longer, resulting in a wealth of bed and breakfasts, recreational communities, resorts and youth camps.  Many come to visit and end up staying for a lifetime.

Attractions include Blue Hole (one of the best swimming holes in Texas), Quicksand Golf Course at Woodcreek, the restored Winters-Wimberley House, Emily Ann Theatre’s Shakespeare Under the Stars, the outstanding Wimberley Players live theatre, live music performances year round, outstanding restaurants, bed and breakfasts and lodges, several cooking schools, many shops around the “town square”, the lovely Blanco River, sparkling Cypress Creek and many others.  Adding to the beauty of the area is the scenic Devil’s Backbone drive just south of Wimberley offering breathtaking Hill Country views.
